we hope you are fine wherever you are. The weekend has nearly come and what better than music to start it with?

Dr. Best from German radiostation Radio Z in Nuernberg asked Dogu to do an exclusive DJ Mix for his show “Limbo Rhythm” in late 2013. His show is an eclectic mixture of quality conscious music from Downtempo to Hip Hop to Funk to Reggae and more styles. That said it is perfect to fit an Ancient Astros style mix to the show. The mix was aired in early january and we uploaded the mix to our Soundcloud page for all you guys out there who were not able to listen to the radioshow:

We would like to share this video of an older tune from us remixed by DJ Ole, a great DJ and producer  from Berlin. The tune is some years old now but the videos were done by Uli Sigg during his and Dogu´s performance at the GamesCom computer fair in summer 2013 in Cologne. Very nice, right? We hope you enjoy it too.

here is our brand new video for “Tuff Gong” featuring Martin Perna of  ANTIBALAS afrobeat orchestra and Ocote Soul Sounds on flute. We want to give BIG THANKS out to the B-Boys and B-Girls in the video, which are the DMI Breakerz from Chicago and Daniel “The Grouch” Holt from NYC !!! This is such a great european-american collaboration. Music bridges all distances and gaps on this planet.

those of you who follow our label Switchstance Recordings since 2001 will know that the first release was edition 1 of the Fantastic Freeriding label compilation. All our label´s artists were presented with a fine selection of tunes and the sound of our label and artists made great waves all across the world. The past years saw Switchstance concentrating on individual artist releases but we thought it is time for another full label statement. Fantastic Freeriding is back again with edition number 4, giving musical statements to what is happening out there in the whole wide world as well as in our own worlds. It is music in the present, in the NOW. Next to our classic Switchstance artists Protassov, Deela, Kabanjak and ourselves, we have a new label collegue from Chicago, named Void Pedal. As our friend and collaborateur Asphate from Chicago based Hip Hop crew Maxilla Blue perfectly described him, Void Pedal “is a beast” on the beats and harmonies. An incredible new talent on Switchstance Recordings. In addition to this we have a very special guest on the album. Martin Perna, founding member of ANTIBALAS afrobeat orchestra, blessed our Ancient Astronauts song “Tuff Gong” with his live flute and gave this song the melodic shape it needed. Tight and on point!

Dogu and his Family Affairs Cologne crew are celebrating a charity ball tonight together with the good folks of Viva Con Agua (an all-profit-organisation that collects money for water projects in less developed countries) and the CityLeaks Urban Art Festival Cologne. all profits of the night go directly into water projects of Viva Con Agua, so this means it´s gonna be partying for a good cause with a lot of positive souls.

the good folks from FM4 Radio outta Vienna/Austria asked Dogu to do a tripped out chill mix with strictly Switchstance Recordings music for their Radioshow “Liquid Radio”. As you hopefully know Switchstance is Dogu´s own label so that music is in his head since 2001 and beyond. so the logic conclusion for him was to call the mix “Switchstance In I Head”. After the mix aired nationwide in Austria through FM4 Radio/ORB we uploaded it to Soundcloud to share it with the world. so place yourself comfortably, turn your stereo up  and enjoy the music:

we are proud to announce that for the very first time we will play at legendary Mojo Club in Hamburg. The place of the Original Jazz Rockers was a big influence to our musical path and those Mojo Club compilations were always big gems in our vinyl collection.  David Hanke of Renegades Of Jazz, who is also a resident DJ at Mojo, made it happen that we got invited to Hamburg to rock this funky joint. and guess what? our man Protassov just moved to Hamburg so he will join us for the party. sadly it will only be Dogu representing AA but he has Jery Tofier of the Family Affairs Cologne crew with him who will bless the crowd with some killer live percussion.

a while ago this talented cats from Original Content Communications in NYC contacted us and asked to use our music in their demo reel. normally we do not give out our music to everybody asking us because we want it in the right hands. but when we saw the talent of this guys we were proud to hear they are fans of our music and were happy to let them use our tunes. as our soul brother and favorite poet Azeem is living in New York these days we connected him with the OCC dudes. real recognise real as we know, so see by yourself what came out of this connection:
