Kabanjak & Fat Albert Einstein Contest

Good day,

we are happy to announce the first ever remix contest on our label Switchstance Recordings. Kabanjak, one half of the Ancient Astronauts, teamed up with multi-instrumentalist Fat Albert Einstein from LA to do a collaboration EP which is full of deep vibes and bass. Think of Roots Rockers Dub ala Augustus Pablo but with the trademark melodies of our two artists, playing all instruments on this EP. no sequencing or looping here, this is all played live by the two gentlemen. Call it Garage Dub or whatever you wanna name it, this is straight up DUB from the heart. have a listen for yourself here:

So if you ever had the feeling inside that you wanted to remix one of our Switchstance artists then this is your chance. visit this page and find all information regarding the remix contest there:

out now: The Orion Nebula Remixes (ESL 197)

Hello everybody,

we are proud to announce the release of our album The Orion Nebula Remixes through ESL Music. It was released on the 1st of may as a digital release and vinyl. you can have a pre-listen here:

Our aim was to gather some of our favorite producers on this album and let them do their unique interpretations of the original music. We are really happy with the result and the cast of producers. Maker from Chicago, J-Boogie from San Francisco, Subatomic Sound System from NYC, Kabanjak himself as well with his other solo moniker Deela, DJ Brace from Montreal and Second Sky & Thomas Blondet from Washington DC all did a great job and delivered a heavy doze of remixes. Timewarp Inc from Athens and ourselves did remixes that were not included on the album but soon will be given away for free through our Soundcloud account.

From booming Hip Hop to modern Dub to Latin inspired Downtempo to Afro driven and wobbly Breakbeats, everything is there for you on this album.

you can purchase the vinyl directly through the ESL Music webshop for an unbeatable package price of 10,- USD for 7″ and 12″:

The Orion Nebula Remixes

Salute,

we know you´ve been waiting for some new Ancient Astronauts material since our album “Into Bass And Time” last year. As you might know Kabanjak has several solo projects and has been working a lot for new releases as Deela as well as his collaborations with Fat Albert Einstein or DJ Brace. And those of you that followed all our steps know that the last months saw releases of Reggae loaded Ancient Astronauts remixes for SEE-I, Subatomic Sound System & Anthony B as well as our DC homies Nappy Riddem. Recently finished remixes include one for our new ESL Music label mate Congo Sanchez, one for Kabanjak´s collabo EP with Fat Albert Einstein and one that is still a big surprise for you guys. We still cannot tell that secret yet but what we can tell you is that it´s one of the heaviest and heavy bass-loaded remixes we have done so far.

But we were talking about new stuff from Ancient Astronauts. On may 1st ESL Music will release our new album “The Orion Nebula Remixes” (ESL 197) which features a big load of remixes by cats like Maker, J-Boogie, DJ Brace, Subatomic Sound System, Kabanjak, Deela, Second Sky & Thomas Blondet and Timewarp Inc. Also featured on the album are Azeem, DJ Zeph, Monsoon and Entropik.

Here is the video for “Give It To You feat. Monsoon (Subatomic Sound System Remix)”:

The video is done by visual artist Uli Sigg from Cologne who also does the live visuals for our live sets. We hope you enjoy!

You can listen to a snippet mix of the new album “The Orion Nebula Remixes” here on this site in the “Music” section.

Much love from the Astros!

Smokehead

Hey world,

Here is a Mashup of 90´s Hip Hop classic “Come On Wit Da Git Down” by The Artifacts that we did in a smoky night session at Kabanjak´s Evergreen Studio around 2009/2010. We recently found it again, played it out a couple of times and were stoked by the great positive reaction of the people. This one is dedicated to the True School Hip Hop Headz out there who still follow the path of positive Hip Hop with a big portion of Soul.

This is a FREE download in exchange for your email.

Have fun listening!

today we wanted to share a teaser for a beautiful documentary by Rene Eckert from Germany about surfing the Black Sea. Rene has a great eye for the beauty of pure nature and the essence of boardspoarts. definately not one of those documentaries about surfing that you have seen too many times in your life. come try a new angle on this sport. this is the world´s first surf movie that was funded by crowdfunding!

please make sure to check out his website http://www.blickinsfreie.de

be good and have a blessed week!

“Wishcraft” by Kabanjak in new Pirate Log #10

hey fellas,

winter is still in full effect (or less, depends where you are and if you have snow) and our friends from Pirate Movie Production continue to travel the world to rip the dopest kickers and mountains they can find. this time they were in Riksgränsen/Sweden which was blessed with fresh powder and sunshine.

what do you think? doesn´t the tune “Wishcraft” by Kabanjak totally fit to these moves? 🙂
