DOGU Drops “Gulu City” with Nase Avatar — First Single from “Indigenous Frequencies” album

On September 18th, our very own DOGU released his new single “Gulu City” together with Ugandan producer Nase Avatar, out now on Switchstance Recordings.

“Gulu City” is the first single from the forthcoming album Indigenous Frequencies, a cross-cultural project by DOGU and the Ugandan producers Nase Avatar and Wana Benjamin, set for release in spring 2027. Recorded in Gulu with local musicians, the track brings indigenous Ugandan instruments such as the Adungu, Nanga, and African fiddle together with Afro Dancehall production, and pays tribute to the calm and beauty of the northern Ugandan city.

The first reactions from radio and DJs around the world have been great:

“Wherever Gulu City is I’d like to go there and have this playing upon arrival.” — Dubmission Radio / WYEP Pittsburgh (US)
“Kora sounds so lovely over that FAT ASSED beat. Will be playing this soon!” — T-Bird / Los Chicos Altos (ES)
“Beautiful I can feel the calm.” — Nickodemus / Turntables On The Hudson NYC (US)

“Gulu City” is available now on all major streaming platforms and stores. Please click the artwork for streaming & downloads!

DOGU – East Africa Trip 2026 | Uganda & Rwanda

This video captures some highlights from DOGU’s latest trip to Uganda and Rwanda in May & June 2026 – another journey into East Africa’s vibrant music scene and its deep-rooted connection to Reggae and Rastafari culture.

From Safari Reggae Mondays at Safari Maze in Centenary Park, the Coffee Vibrations session at Yujo Izakaya, the Level Up TV Show on BTM Television and KALABASH by East African Records – all in Kampala – the journey continued across the border to Kigali, Rwanda, where DOGU joined the Lion Story Band for the second time at one of their “Love & Unity” concerts.

A trip full of music, friendship, collaboration and good vibes, continuing DOGU’s musical journey across East Africa
